Eyelid Surgery

Surgicalrejuvenation of the eyelids is a highly effective method to remove excess overhanging skin and puffiness.  The medical term for the procedure is “blepharoplasty”.  The word ‘blepharo’-refers to the lid and ‘-plasty’ refers to fixing up of something!  The upper and lower lids can be improved together or separately.  In order to hide the scars, incisions are placed in the natural crease of the upper lid and directly below the lashes of the lower lid.  Often fat or filler is also placed into the tear trough area during the procedure for reasons discussed above.  These procedures are all performed as an outpatient.  The recovery, risks, anticipated goals, and degree of discomfort vary between patients depending on individual circumstances.  These very important topics are discussed in detail during the pre-operative discussion and planning that we have together.

The patient below underwent upper and lower eyelid blepharoplasty as well as fat grafting to the tear trough area.
