Dr. James Vogel is an Associate Professor at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine in the Division of Plastic Surgery, was named a Top Doc by Baltimore Magazine, and lectures nationally and internationally on topics in cosmetic surgery.

Dr. James Vogel did his undergraduate work at Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine, where he studied biochemistry, and then went on to earn a medical degree from the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York, New York. Dr. Vogel next completed his general surgery residencies at Tufts New England Medical Center in Boston and at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. He then completed a plastic surgery residency at the Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, which included maxillo-facial and microvascular surgery training at the Maryland Institute for Emergency Services – Shock Trauma unit. After this training, Dr. Vogel decided to pursue his career as a plastic surgeon in Baltimore, Maryland.

Dr. James Vogel was promoted to the academic rank of Associate Professor in the Department of Surgery, Division of Plastic Surgery at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. He participates in the teaching of medical students and residents in plastic surgery training. He also holds professional memberships in the following professional societies: the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, Baltimore County Medical Society, Johns Hopkins Medical Society, Medical and Chirurgical Faculty of the State of Maryland, Nathan Womack Surgical Society, Northeastern Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons, and the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery (President 1996 – 1997; Executive Committee 1996 – 1999; Board of Governors 1993 – 1998; Chairman, Scientific Committee 1993 – 1999). In addition, Dr. James Vogel has surgery privileges at the Johns Hopkins Hospital, the Northwest Center, and the St. Joseph's Medical Center.

Dr. James Vogel is especially interested in cosmetic facial surgery, cosmetic breast surgery, hair transplantation surgery, and liposuction and body contouring.

Dr. Vogel is very accessible to his plastic surgery patients, as he wants them to feel comfortable and well informed. Here, our patients are like family.

Our Plastic Surgery Office

Welcome to our office! Led by plastic surgeon Dr. James Vogel, our Baltimore, Maryland practice is completely committed to providing outstanding, safe, effective plastic surgery to every patient we see. We personally believe we have the best plastic surgery office in Baltimore, Maryland. Our facility is warm and inviting. From the moment you enter the door, our staff will be exceedingly professional, knowledgeable, caring and helpful. Dr. James Vogel's philosophy states that no patient request or need is trivial and we stand behind that commitment. Our patients always come first and receive the best care imaginable. This includes warm greetings, clean cloth gowns, informative and professional consultations and, of course, professional and skilled surgical care. Our ground floor state of the art surgical and office facility features expanded treatment and consultation rooms as well as modern and immaculate operating facilities.

Patients will feel relaxed in our clean and modern treatment rooms. The consultation rooms have the latest in digital photographic equipment and computer imaging of anticipated results to maximize communication with our patients. Our aesthetician rooms provide a private and quiet venue for therapeutic and relaxing facials and other spa services.

Our Surgical Facility

In addition to our warm and professional office and staff, our operating facility is fully licensed as a freestanding ambulatory surgical facility by the state of Maryland. It is meticulously clean and well equipped. This surgery center is recognized by Medicare, Blue Cross, and Blue Shield. Our highest accreditation was conferred by the national agency known as the American Association of Accrediting Ambulatory Surgical Facilities (AAASF) in 1999.

A private entrance and exit to the surgical center allows for maximum patient comfort, safety and privacy. A designated pre-op room allows patients to meet with our anesthesiologist/Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) the morning of surgery to discuss any questions they may have. We also provide a private waiting area for the families of our patients. This allows family members and friends to relax in comfort while they wait for their loved one to complete their surgical procedure.

Dr. Vogel and our medical staff are focused on one case at a time and on your successful outcome. Should there be any unforeseen events that arise, we are all trained to handle emergencies and are prepared to transfer our plastic surgery patients to a nearby hospital on an urgent basis. We are exceedingly proud of our 100% safety record with anesthesia since we opened the surgical center in 1996. The anesthesia is provided by an anesthesiologist or Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA). In addition, Dr. James Vogel carefully watches over each patient he treats in our Baltimore, Maryland facility.

The Operating and Recovery room are equipped with state-of-the-art monitors, supplies, a back-up generator for power outages, and an efficient air filtration system. These precautions and our professional and courteous staff ensure our patients the finest in plastic surgery care and safety.

Cosmetic Surgery Seminars

The next date for our seminar is Wednesday, March 24th from 6:00 - 8:00 PM

Every few months, we hold informative seminars presenting different aspects of cosmetic surgery. The seminars typically last 90 minutes and cover a variety of subjects. This is a terrific way to find out about topics that might be of interest to you. Dr. Vogel introduces our staff and provides an overview of the office. He also presents before and after photos of cases he has personally performed. A discussion on skin care and Endermologie® is usually conducted as well by our licensed aesthetician, Lucy Wineke. Our next Night of Beauty and Education is on November 11th. We will be doing live demonstrations of Dysport injections (the new BOTOX® competitor), IPL Photofacials - intense pulsed light, microdermabrasion and spray tanning.
