Dr. Vogel Discusses PRP for Hair Regrowth at ISHRS 2018
Our board-certified plastic surgeon—James E. Vogel, MD, FACS—was invited to speak at the 26th Annual World Congress for the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery (ISHRS), which was held in Los Angeles, California at the Loews Hollywood Hotel from October 10th to the 14th, 2018. As the former president of ISHRS and the recipient of the 2016 Golden Follicle Award, Dr. Vogel is highly respected in the field of hair restoration and is frequently asked to deliver speeches to his colleagues and other professionals on relevant trends, treatments, and techniques.
For the audience at the World Congress, Dr. Vogel delivered an educational presentation focused on the use of regenerative platelet rich plasma (PRP) therapy for hair restoration purposes. Using this fairly new technique, Dr. Vogel has achieved successful results with male and female patients affected by various types of hair loss. At our practice, he combines PRP collected from the patient’s blood sample with ACell® MatriStem® matrix, and injects the formula into targeted areas of the scalp (either alone or in conjunction with hair transplant surgery) to stimulate and strengthen hair follicles. The results of PRP with ACell® injection therapy have included:
- The growth of new hair
- The prevention of hair loss
- Strengthening of weak or miniaturized hair follicles
For patients who are ideal candidates for PRP with ACell® injection therapy—typically those in the early stages of hair loss who are also using other non-surgical therapies like Propecia® (finasteride) and Rogaine®—hair can become thicker, darker, and more plentiful. Dr. Vogel is thrilled to be among the first wave of surgeons offering this effective, state-of-the-art treatment to hair loss patients.
If you are concerned about hair loss and want to learn more about PRP with ACell® injection therapy and the many other treatment options Dr. Vogel offers for hair restoration, we encourage you to contact our practice to schedule a consultation.
