Baltimore, MD – Baltimore Magazine has named board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. James E. Vogel as a “Top Doc” for the third consecutive year. Dr. Vogel says he strives to combine surgical expertise, professionalism, and artistry at his private practice to serve the needs of his patients, and feels honored to have these efforts continue to be recognized by his fellow physicians. The Top Doc award is a peer-voted honor given to medical practitioners that are working with the highest level of skill and experience in their respective fields.

Dr. Vogel recently explained the personal significance of receiving this award in a blog post titled “The Importance of Being Named A ‘Top Doc.’” According to the Baltimore plastic surgeon, he feels humbled by the experience as well as deeply appreciative. “The community continues to recognize the hard work I invest into my practice and my patients on a daily basis, which amplifies my drive to strive for excellence in patient care – just as I have been doing since the beginning of my career.” says Dr. Vogel.

A follow-up blog post titled “Considerations For Patients Seeking A Physician,” Dr. Vogel comments on the value of the list of Baltimore’s Top Docs for prospective patients. Since Baltimore Magazine separates doctors on the list into various categories, finding a doctor who excels in one specific area of treatment is simplified. For example, Dr. Vogel was given the Top Doc award in three different categories for 2013: hair restoration, facial treatments, and breast surgery. “Because plastic surgery has many different facets and subspecialties, this breakdown is particularly important,” says Dr. Vogel. “These categories represent the areas of my practice in which my peers believe I particularly excel, but they also represent some of my major interests in the field.”

Dr. Vogel stresses the importance of trust and positive doctor-patient communication in the process of looking for a surgeon, citing patient comfort as one of the keys to achieving outstanding surgical results. The Top Doc award can make the prospect of finding a highly qualified plastic surgeon in Baltimore less daunting and prove a valuable resource in researching the best doctor for an individual’s unique needs, he explains.
