Dr. James Vogel Employs Three Tummy Tuck Methods
Tummy tuck surgery can help you remove stubborn fat and tighten excess skin across your abdominal region. However, a traditional tummy tuck may not always be the most effective option for every patient seeking abdominoplasty. For this reason, Dr. James Vogel, our board-certified plastic surgeon, offers three different tummy tuck techniques in order to provide a customized approach to your procedure based on your specific needs.
The first technique is referred to as a mini tummy tuck. This method is designed to target pockets of fat below your belly button, as well as excess skin across your subumbilical region. The procedure generally takes about three hours to complete and is performed under IV sedation on an outpatient basis. If you are simply interested in targeting fat and excess skin below your belly button, you may be a good candidate for a mini tummy tuck.
The next option is the full tummy tuck. In addition to targeting your lower abdominal region, Dr. Vogel will also remove excess skin and fat above your belly button while tightening your abdominal muscles for a flatter stomach and trimmer waistline. This technique typically takes three to four hours to complete, and it too is performed under IV sedation on an outpatient basis. If you are interested in removing fat and tightening skin both above and below your belly button, you may be a good candidate for a full tummy tuck.
Lastly, Dr. Vogel offers an extended tummy tuck procedure. This technique is closely related to the full tummy tuck; however, it is designed to actually remove excess skin rather than simply tighten loose skin. Additionally, abdominal fat will be extracted and remaining skin will be tightened to achieve the look you desire. This method generally takes about five hours to complete and is also performed under IV sedation on an outpatient basis. If you are interested in the removal of excess skin in addition to fat extraction and skin tightening, you may be a good candidate for an extended tummy tuck.
